openAir is a web application that is hosted on the nanoADS-B receiver. It features a 2D and a 3D map and a table showing information about the currently received flights. Additionally there is a area showing statistics about received Mode-S packets. The areas are divided by split-bars, which can be freely arranged.
It is possible to filter by a text string, which is matched with columns MODE_S, CALLSIGN, REG and TYPE. A maximum height can be entered for watching traffic close to ground.
A range plot is permanently updated, which can be reset on demand in settings area.
On the left there is a settings area giving access to status information and configuration settings to control view or networking options. Bottom right is the statistics area, which shows current and previous Mode-S packet rates. That helps tuning the antenna. Packets within last second are split up into packet types.
There is a shared selection state between all windows. Selecting a flight in one window scrolls it visible in the others. If enabled the 3D window switches into an animated cockpit view for the selected flight. The statistics window shows packet rates and types only for selected flight and dumps raw and decoded Mode -S messages.
